It's the oldest joke in Oz, and it happens to be a real optical effect.

A green tint compresses the colour information reaching your eye toward the middle of the visible spectrum. Reds and blues at the edges get pulled in;contrast between mid-tones goes up; everything reads slightly more uniform. A light 20% tint is comfortable indoors and reads as a styling choice. An 80% tint is sunglasses territory and will shift how you judge colour — worth knowing before you order a pair for driving.
